Open Source Software and Licensing Notice

At Qubex Signage, we believe our customers should understand the technology behind our service, who owns the underlying software, and what they receive when they purchase services from Qubex Solutions.

This notice explains our use of Xibo CMS, its open-source licensing, the digital signage player software used with our service, and the services we provide.

1. About Qubex Signage

Qubex Signage is a managed digital signage service operated by Qubex Solutions.

Our service is built on Xibo CMS, an open-source digital signage content management system developed by Xibo Signage Ltd. The Xibo CMS is released under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 (AGPLv3).

Qubex Signage is the name of our managed service. It is not a separate or proprietary version of the Xibo CMS.

Qubex Solutions does not claim ownership of the Xibo CMS, its underlying source code, or any associated intellectual property belonging to Xibo Signage Ltd.

2. What Qubex Solutions Provides

Qubex Solutions provides hosting, implementation and technical services to help businesses deploy and manage their digital signage systems.

Depending on the selected package and service agreement, our services may include:

• CMS Hosting and Management: Hosting, server administration, maintenance, updates and backups.
• Installation and Configuration: Initial setup, system configuration, display registration and customer onboarding.
• Content Management Support: Assistance with content uploads, layout creation, playlist management and scheduling.
• Technical Support: Troubleshooting, system monitoring and assistance with supported configurations.
• Hardware and Deployment Services: Advice, supply, configuration and installation of compatible screens and media players, where agreed separately.
• Ongoing Maintenance: Technical assistance and maintenance according to the applicable service agreement.

Our charges cover the services, infrastructure, support, hardware and other deliverables specified in the customer’s quotation or service agreement.

These charges do not transfer ownership of the Xibo CMS or any third-party software to the customer.

3. Branding and Relationship with Xibo

Qubex Signage is an independently operated service of Qubex Solutions.

Qubex Solutions has not purchased or obtained a Xibo white-label licence as of the date of this notice.

We do not represent Qubex Signage as an officially white-labelled Xibo product.

The Xibo CMS backend is used without modifications to its underlying application source code. We have customised the login page presentation for our service. This customisation does not mean that Qubex Solutions owns or has independently developed the underlying Xibo CMS.

Applicable Xibo branding, copyright notices, licence information and source-code references are retained as required by the relevant licence terms.

Qubex Solutions is independent of Xibo Signage Ltd. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or officially certified by Xibo Signage Ltd.

4. Digital Signage Player Software and Licensing

Qubex Signage uses compatible Xibo player applications to display scheduled content on customer screens. Licensing requirements depend on the player platform used.

Windows and Linux players. Xibo for Windows and Xibo for Linux are open-source player applications developed by Xibo Signage Ltd and released under the AGPLv3. They remain subject to that licence.

Android, Samsung Tizen and LG webOS players. Xibo for Android, Xibo for Tizen and Xibo for webOS are commercial player applications developed by Xibo Signage Ltd. They are separate from the open-source Xibo CMS and are subject to Xibo’s commercial licensing terms. A separate player licence is required for each display using these players, in accordance with Xibo’s licensing arrangements.

Qubex Solutions obtains commercial player licences directly from Xibo Signage Ltd. Licence types available for each platform depend on Xibo’s current licensing options. Please contact us for licence options and cost.

Player licence charges, hardware costs and other third-party charges are separate from Qubex Signage hosting and management fees unless explicitly included in the customer’s quotation or service agreement.

Qubex Solutions does not claim ownership of Xibo’s player software and does not represent the commercial players as open-source software.

5. Open-Source Software and Source Code

The Xibo CMS is open-source software distributed under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 (AGPLv3).

The official Xibo CMS source code is publicly available from the official repository maintained by Xibo Signage Ltd: github.com/xibosignage/xibo-cms

Qubex Solutions uses the standard Xibo CMS backend without modifying its underlying application source code. Our customisation is limited to the login page presentation.

The original Xibo CMS remains subject to its applicable open-source licence. Users retain the rights granted to them under that licence.

The applicable licence text and source-code references remain available within the CMS and through the relevant Xibo resources.

6. Intellectual Property and Trademarks

Xibo and its associated branding are trademarks or other intellectual property of their respective owners.

The Xibo CMS and Xibo player software remain subject to the ownership and licensing rights of their respective rights holders.

Qubex Solutions uses the name Xibo solely to identify the software on which our service is based.

Qubex Signage and Qubex Solutions are names used by Qubex Solutions in connection with its own services.

Nothing on this website should be interpreted as creating an affiliation, partnership, endorsement or sponsorship relationship between Qubex Solutions and Xibo Signage Ltd.

7. Hosting, Customer Access and Data

Qubex Signage provides managed CMS hosting and administration according to the customer’s selected service package.

Shared CMS hosting. Customers with fewer than 50 screens use a shared CMS environment managed by Qubex Solutions. Each customer’s access to displays, content, users and other CMS resources is restricted according to their assigned user permissions and access controls. Customers are permitted to access only the resources authorised for their accounts, subject to the configuration and capabilities of the deployed system.

Dedicated CMS hosting. Customers with 50 or more screens may be provided with a dedicated CMS instance, subject to the selected service package, technical requirements and commercial agreement. Dedicated hosting arrangements and infrastructure specifications will be documented in the applicable quotation or service agreement.

Customer content and data. Customers retain ownership of the content they upload, subject to any third-party intellectual property rights. Customers are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary rights and permissions to use their uploaded content.

Qubex Solutions stores and processes customer content and associated operational data as necessary to provide, maintain and support the contracted service. The hosting infrastructure and applicable data-storage arrangements are managed by Qubex Solutions. Customers requiring specific data-storage, retention or security arrangements should confirm their requirements with Qubex Solutions before deployment.

Backup frequency, data retention and additional data-handling commitments are governed by the applicable service agreement and privacy policy.

8. Website Images and Illustrative Interfaces

Screenshots, product images and interface previews displayed on the Qubex Signage website may be illustrative.

The actual interface, available features and software appearance may vary according to the CMS version, player platform, configuration and software updates.

Images are provided to help customers understand the service and should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every illustrated feature is included in every package. The features and deliverables included in a particular deployment are those specified in the applicable quotation or service agreement.

9. Third-Party Software and Disclaimer

Qubex Signage may use third-party software and components subject to their respective licences and terms. Each component remains subject to the rights and obligations established by its applicable licence.

Qubex Solutions provides hosting, configuration, maintenance and technical support according to the applicable service agreement.

Nothing in this notice limits any rights granted to users under applicable open-source licences or excludes any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.
